Dale County RSVP, sponsored by the Dale County Commission, was organized in July 1973 with 18 volunteers.  Experiencing growth through the years, it now has 42 stations, 600 volunteers and over 180,000 volunteer service hours yearly.

This agency offers numerous volunteer opportunities in Dale County.  Volunteers enjoy playing bingo and singing with residents at three nursing homes in Ozark, Providence Home, Ozark Nursing Facility and Oakview Manor.  Volunteers also visit the Enterprise Nursing home once each month.

Not only do these volunteers receive personal assistance and enjoyment through these RSVP activities, but they provide assistance for each other as well as many others in the community.  Currently a major goal is to include additional opportunities to assist young people.  Volunteers are now involved in Phonics and Reading Buddy program at Long Elementary School in Skipperville.  The Phonics program, sponsored by RSVP, impacts approximately 153 children in grades K-2.  The Reading Buddy Program uses 15 volunteers each week to listen to the children to read on a one-on-one basis.  This activity helps 51 children in grades K-2.  Volunteers who tutor enable children to improve their reading skills and grade point averages significantly.

Dale County RSVP makes remarkable contributions to the quality of life for many citizens of Dale County.  Building on its strong 32 year history, it looks forward to expanding its program and services in Dale County.
